The Boat:
Built as the futuristic concept Two Wing T-4 Budweiser Hydroplane. The boat was tested, Chip Hanauer at the wheel, and entered in only one race at Madison, Indiana, Mark Evans as the driver. The boat made an impressive debut being the fastest at a qualifying speed of 160.795 mph. Mark won every heat entered and completed. Then the boat was withdrawn for further development.
U-8 Racing Team purchased the boat which underwent major design changes in 2003 and extensive rebuild/design change prior to 2004. Additional hull changes are being made in preparation for the 2005 season. The design and construction renders this the newest boat in the fleet with cornering ability faster than a cat on carpet.
The previous retired LLumar Window Film Hydroplane is being equipped with a new cockpit, decks and may be completed in time to get wet in 2005.
